inconsistent text expander and long press

Describe the bug
Hi, thx very much for this awesome App that will most probably replace legendary FUTO for me!

Only issues I faced are:

• text expander does not work everywhere (some input fields work fine, others do not at all)
• sometimes longpress (f.e. typing a number or symbol without going through the '?123' button) stops working as well.
• occasionally the long-pressed button shows the according popup (without printing it to the field) and it gets stuck (staying popped up so to say), going through ?123 will still work and also unstuck the popup
• I am not entirely sure if the text expander is connected/cause to that issue but I will keep testing (if it occurs only with expander activated) to verify
• just testet again and the long press was not working at all (also no stuck key this time) but on a text field where the expander worked. going through ?123 once fixed long press this specific time and made it work again but other times it only fixed the stuck popup and long pressing stayed impossible

To Reproduce

• most obvious is chrome based browsers vs Firefox based
• try expanding in each address bar and Firefox will work fine while chrome based will not
• also a lot of other places where it doesn't work like my launcher
• the stuck key was predominantly in brave search/ask chats on brave browser where expander also did not work for me but I think it is app-specific as other chrome based browsers didn't work either. So basically Firefox based browsers where the only place where it really worked for me so far.

App version & Flavor
v4.0.2 both recommended full-online-ai and offline-ai on other device where the long-press issues mostly appeared

so the long-press related issue might be device dependent (I don't think it's because of the online vs. offline version)
BUT text expander issue is device independent for sure!

can't believe nobody else faces this when I get the same on 2 completely different devices...

I need that feature desperately and while there are other apps for it specifically, it makes so much sense to include it in the keyboard where it should just work everywhere by default without hacky stuff like accessibility services. Very strange that it only does so for specific apps apparently.

I will update if I find new clues. ✌️

updated both to 4.0.3 which had no influence on the issue at all

this time the popup got stuck again on firefox-based where the expander worked, but only going through '?123' (as I have set the prefix to '&' which would not print again on longpress). This time it would not fix it immediately though (when going back to ABC the popup was still there and long presses would still not work either)
Only after short press the popup went away and then things worked as intended.

So I think it might be related but the longpress-/popup- thingy is a bit random

No didn't try that yet but keen to use it once expander works reliably. What do you think it has to do with the issue? Wouldn't it make troubleshooting even more complex for now?

To clarify:
I was not talking about holding the modifier-key ('?123')! but about holding f.e. the 'g'-key to print ampersand ('&', which was my prefix for testing the expander)

that leads to the stuck behavior but only on occasion. it also may be a own issue entirely, I will test if it occurs with expander deactivated from now on.

pls note that the expander not working is the actual issue I try to solve here and stuck popup is for reference only.
I also tried a lot of other keys (f.e. just '.' and ',' that don't need long-press) where the expander also didn't work.

In the beginning I was trying for hours and nothing at all worked leading me to thinking I was using it wrong until I tried in Firefox for the first time and it just worked there...

It just does nothing lol 😂
(it just prints the keys as if it wasn't active while on Firefox it expands as it should)

If you mean a recording of the stuck/not working long-press I can try to catch it but as said its only occasionally and might be related to the expander implementation.

So I would like to focus on the expander first since that might fix both once we know why it would be dependent on the app at all, which it should not be.

Have you tested the expander on any chrome-based browser?
That would take us a bit further as I can then tell if it is device-dependent at all or not.

Ok strange. I will find the culprit eventually. Maybe it's another app interfering on both devices but I can't really think of one that would do so rn.

As I said, if you show it as a screen recording from here or via the telegram channel, I can test whether the same issue occurs
