Experimental systems and open-source software for the edge.
Akita Engineering is the advanced concepts and open-source engineering group within Akita Labs. We develop experimental software, protocols and infrastructure for edge networks, mesh systems and bandwidth-constrained environments where conventional connectivity becomes unreliable or unavailable.
Our work includes low-latency data transfer, mobile gateway nodes, resilient messaging, ATAK integrations, autonomous-system communications and field-deployed networking tools for developers, researchers and operators working at the limits of traditional infrastructure.
We focus on practical problems in distributed systems, intermittent connectivity and decentralized communications. Our projects are designed to improve interoperability, resilience and deployment across mobile, remote and infrastructure-limited environments.
Akita Engineering is where early concepts are built, tested and refined. Some projects remain open-source research tools. Others become components, protocols or future technology platforms within Akita Labs.
Software that performs when connectivity does not.
